HLP worked on a programme of supported housing projects for over fifty-fives in the Chester area replacing existing outdated accommodation.
Kings Lea comprises of thirty apartments with three disabled accessible apartments.
The building massing was reduced by creating a mansard roof solution in a grey zinc finish. This creates a modern termination to the roofscape with local brickwork complementing the surrounding buildings.
All the new apartments have been designed to Lifetime Homes standards and will achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 with communal facilities for the residents and wider community.
At the heart of the development is a three storey atrium space which is the main circulation space and connects the communal facilities.
These projects provide a healthy, modern environment for elderly care and the mixed tenure gives a greater variety of affordable housing provision.
