This innovative successful conference and training facility for Focus Education has been delicately sculpted into the existing fabric of the former church of St Paul’s, Scouthead, Oldham.

>HLP purposefully conserved existing architectural details and invented enterprising interiors to exhibit the structural heritage through modern rich expressions of space, colour, light and material.

Significant elements of budget were utilised to remodel structural eccentricities allowing the incorporation of detailed lighting schemes, attainment of DDA compliance throughout, restoration of stained glass windows and installation of new heating technology and grey water harvesting to reduce the carbon footprint.  Our design achieves a peaceful harmony between century old stone, the warmth of new and old oak timbers, with a mix of clean cut and polished glass.  Our project was featured in the RIBA Architecture Review North West 2008 and nominated for an RIBA East Midlands Award.
