Japan Street, Salford is a contemporary residential development tailored to support Orthodox living. Meticulous care in collaborating with leading Orthodox families led to a fascinating discovery of an alternative lifestyle reinforcing an attention to faith led detail design.

Most notable for scrutiny was the Jewish Sabbath plus the inclusion of Sukkots for the Feast of Booths and Feast of Tabernacles.  Whilst the Sukkot roof is not of organic material  the structure is accommodating for UK’s climate.

Principles of Sabbath extended to shortening a construction week and disconnecting visible household instruments.  Of particular significance is a designed space for the mezuzah to fulfill the mitzvah.
