Following the success of the Anfield and Breckfield Masterplan and Design Code, HLP were instructed to develop Phase II of the plan to Reserved Matters Stage to provide 70 mixed tenure family houses.
The detailed design of the public realm has developed the character areas and street hierarchy described in approved design code. At the heart of the development is an eye catching new Urban Square that provides a major opportunity for a high quality public realm amenity space.
Dynamic lines that define views into and across the space create a contemporary geometry, whilst the re-use of salvaged natural stone materials in the constructions offers a reference back to the previous Victorian nieghbourhood and affords a sustainable approach to construction.
Careful detailing enables the distinction between private public and communal space within the square, whilst a sense of unity is given throughout built enclosure, choice and pattern of materials and a matrix of trees. The new Granton Square plays a key role in establishing the new identity for the redeveloped neighbourhood.
