What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files which are stored on your computer when first visiting many websites, including this one. These files are then accessible from two separate places; firstly your computer, where the cookie is stored; secondly the web server who issued the cookie in the first place.
This enables websites to collect data on a users visit through a website. Commonly this is used for saving what you’ve added to a shopping cart on a website, saving your viewing preferences on a site or tracking what you’ve clicked on in a site to help improve a site's content and marketing. Obviously they can be used in many different ways but these are just a few common examples.
